This week I’ve compiled my top 5 eco-conscious habits for a more sustainable lifestyle. These actions made it to my top 5 because they are super inclusive, which means they are not costly, not time-consuming and are probably something that everyone would encounter in their daily lives.

  1. Deleting emails

Did you know that storing large amounts of e-mails causes an increase in carbon footprint? Over the years since the invention of the internet, the energy consumption of data centers has increased exponentially in order to store our old mails on servers around the world. Therefore, one of the easiest ways to reduce carbon footprint is to just delete emails that are not relevant anymore.

Secondly, unsubscribe from emails or newsletters that you don’t actually intend to read. I am actually guilty of this, because I am the kind of person who subscribes to a lot of newsletters on topics that I am interested in, then totally forgot about them. After some time I check my mailbox and boom, thousands of unread emails are thrown in my face. More time is then required for me to delete these emails. Prevention is better than cure, so choose your subscription wisely!
